Our origin
Patino was founded in 2019, but the idea of making watches was born way before that. We have been wearing watches since childhood and a few years ago the idea was born to make our own design. Why? Because we missed something in the watches that are available, and because of an interest in the design process of watchmaking. This interest is fueled by a background in high-tech engineering, a sector where esthetics are rarely important. In watchmaking, esthetics and functionality are both important which makes it quite a different challenge.
During the design process inspiration was drawn from natures beauty, and after much experimenting our unique dials were created. The dials are at the core of Patino's identity and we'd like to think of them as miniature paintings created by nature.
After many design iterations and prototyping our first final design was created. This is where Patino's story began.
Location
Our watches can be characterized by the term Dutch design, which is well known for its minimalistic, experimental and innovative designs. That is no coincidence, because Patino's origin lies in Rotterdam, were we do our design work, our dial manufacturing, final assembly and quality control.
